Vinitaly: An international Pinot Noir masterclass by Vertdevin Magazine

A comparative tasting of four great wines from Bourgogne, Oregon, Piémont and Marlborough exploring the many expressions of the grape variety

On Tuesday 14 April 2026, during Vinitaly, Vertdevin Magazine will host a masterclass dedicated to one of the world’s most emblematic and terroir-sensitive grape varieties: Pinot Noir. Entitled “The many faces of Pinot Noir: A comparative Masterclass”, the tasting will take place from 2:30 pm to 3:15 pm in Sala Orchidea, level -1 of the Palaexpo, entrance A1, and will be led by Erika Mantovan. The session will be conducted in English and Italian.

This Pinot Noir masterclass at Vinitaly aims to explore the stylistic diversity of the variety through an international and comparative approach. Renowned for its unique ability to translate the nuances of climate, soils and viticultural practices, Pinot Noir provides a particularly revealing lens through which to analyse the influence of terroir on wine expression. Through this guided tasting, participants will be able to observe how a single grape variety can unfold into distinct sensory identities depending on its region of origin. Four estates have been selected, each representing a benchmark territory for Pinot Noir. The tasting will feature four great wines, each illustrating a distinctive interpretation of the variety within its terroir. The wines presented will highlight four major regions in the global landscape of Pinot Noir: Bourgogne in France, the historic birthplace of the grape and an international reference for finesse and mineral precision; Oregon in the United States, renowned for balanced and elegant expressions; Piémont in Italy, where Pinot Nero reveals tense and structured profiles; and finally Marlborough in New Zealand, known for aromatic profiles that are clean, marked by purity and precision of fruit.

Designed for wine professionals, international buyers and informed enthusiasts attending Vinitaly, this comparative tasting will provide a framework for discussing terroir, style and varietal identity in a pedagogical and analytical format. The number of seats is intentionally limited to 50 participants, with a portion reserved for buyers invited by Vinitaly, ensuring an engaging and high-quality exchange around the wines presented.

The entry fee for the masterclass is set at €20.00. Tickets are available through the official booking link. Given the limited capacity and the growing interest in thematic tastings focused on Pinot Noir, early booking is strongly recommended.

Through this international masterclass dedicated to Pinot Noir, Vertdevin Magazine continues its editorial mission: highlighting the diversity of terroirs and offering wine professionals spaces for in-depth analysis and comparative tasting.
