Restaurants Tips, where to eat (& drink well) in Douro / Porto wine region Where to eat in the different wine regions?
Below fine all restaurants we recommend for the quality of their wines list
Porto is one of the most beautiful cities in Europe, charming and picturesque. Located at the gates of the Atlantic ocean and crossed by the famous Douro river, the city of Porto offers a rich and tasty cuisine. It is famous for its seafood dishes. Don’t forget to stop by the famous Porto market to taste “tripe”, a great local specialty, or to eat “cabri” when you are in the heart of the Douro.
Leaving the city of Porto to follow the Douro River inland, you will discover the beautiful and large eponymous region (editor’s note: Douro). The latter is famous for its famous terraced vineyards, breath-taking views and for being the birthplace of its great fortified wine, the Port. Don’t be mistaken, you will also find great “still” wines in the Douro appellation (white and red).
You will find below, on this map, a list of local restaurants, carefully selected, to enjoy the best of Portuguese wines and gastronomy. These restaurants have all been tested. You will discover for example O Paparico, Pero Lemos, or Terra…etc. Special mention for an exceptional “wine bar”, Portologia, which you should not miss!
These restaurants offer you an interesting wine list but also a cuisine that deserves to be discovered, some nice small plates. You will find all types of cuisine (regional, locavore, organic, etc.).
For each restaurant you will find information about the cuisine, an evaluation of the wine list (quality, price, diversity and research) as well as an assessment of the price level of dining there.

Why this map?
We are a team of wine lovers which also means epicureans. During our various trips to the vineyards of the world, we had the opportunity to lunch or dine at the tables of outstanding chefs. We, therefore, wanted to highlight those who offer remarkable cuisine but who have also taken the step of creating a “genuine” wine list.
Restaurant owners, if you wish to highlight the fact that you have been “selected”, do not hesitate to contact us by email (firstname.lastname@example.org) to receive your “badge” to place on your shop window.
