Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars – Cabernet Sauvignon 2015, S.L.V – Napa Valley

Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars – Cabernet Sauvignon 2015, S.L.V – Napa Valley

The nose is a bit tight and offers intensity as well as power. The wine needs to be put in carafe. It reveals notes of blackberry, camphor, Sichuan pepper and cassis combined with small notes of crushed red berries, touches of volcanic rock, spices as well as a hint of nutmeg and dried almond. The palate is fruity, well-balanced and offers a slight juiciness, a small linearity, a good definition, a slight suavity, a very slight unctuosity, a very slight freshness as well as tension. On the palate this wine expresses notes of fleshy blackberry, fleshy cassis and small notes of black cherry associated with slight touches of red berries acidulous candy, flowers, chocolate / tonka bean, cardamom as well as discreet hints of wood / dried almond, nutmeg and gray pepper. Tannins are fine and very slightly chewy. Good length. The finish is very slightly powerful and gourmand. There is a hint of tonka bean / dark chocolate on the persistence. Beautiful and gourmande persistence.
