Roger Champault – Cote de Champtin 2015 – Sancerre

The nose is aromatic and offers a slight intensity. It reveals notes of cherry, wild strawberry and small notes of blackberry candy associated with touches of cornflower, licorice as well as a subtle hint of toasted oak/caramelized oak, Sichuan pepper and a very discreet hint of vanilla (in the background). The wine needs to be decanted (carafe). The palate is fruity, mineral, well-balanced, relatively supple and offers freshness, a beautiful juicy frame, a slight acidity, precision, elegance, a beautiful freshness as well as a nice dynamism. In the mouth this wine expresses notes of fleshy raspberry, wild strawberry and cassis associated with a hint of cherry, violet, a touch of zan, toasted oak as well as an imperceptible hint of chocolate (in the background) and black olive. Tannins are fine and supples. Good length.
