Poças – Simbolo 2018 – Douro

The nose is fruity, powerful and offers density, a racy minerality as well as a good finesse of the grain. It reveals notes of ripe/fresh cassis, fresh/ripe blakcberry and small notes of toasted associaed with fine touches of fresh leather, racy minerality/graphite, very fine hints of red fruits, cocoa as well as an imperceptible hint of garrigue, pepper and an imperceptible hint of eucalyptus. The palate is fruity, well-balanced and offers a good definition, juiciness, a mineral frame as well as a beautiful freshness. On the palate this wine expresses notes of juicy/fleshy blackberry, fleshy/juicy black cherry and small notes of juicy/fleshy raspberry associated with fine touches of juicy plum, discreet hints of flowers, graphite, chocolate as well as a subtle hint of black olive, cardamom and an imperceptible hint of dry ground of local forest (sense of the place !). Tannins are well-built. A very discreet chew on the finish. Good persistence.
