Pétrus 2021 – Pomerol

The nose is fruity, elegant, nicely complex, masterful and reveals a nice racy texture, a nice multi-layered side, freshness, aromatic depth and a nice richness in freshness. A nice fine and complete nose! There are notes of creamy boysenberry, ripe/fresh black berries and more lightly violet, racy minerality combined with fine touches of graphite, fleshy/crushed strawberry as well as a subtle hint of blueberry, star anise and a very discreet hint of sweet spice. A lovely harmony! A very discreet hint of caramelisation, Bourbon vanilla (in the background) and subtle hints of green cardamom. The palate is nicely fresh, elegant, racy, very fine and reveals a nice definition/precision, an airy side in its fine/discrete richness, finesse, freshness, a nice multi-layered side, a nice stretched side as well as a racy minerality. On the palate this wine expresses notes of fresh/juicy boysenberry, fresh/juicy dark berries and more lightly graphite combined with delicate hints of pulpy/fresh raspberry, red berries, toasty, nutmeg and subtle hints of star anise, sweet blond tobacco and a subtle sweet/toasted hazelnut. A subtle hint of crunchy blueberry at the back of the palate. A nice long finish. The tannins are elegant, delicate and sapid. A subtle chewiness as well as a nice salinity, sapidity and a discrete positive (and delicate) bitterness on the finish. A lovely wine with finesse, complexity, depth and harmony. Classicism in elegance, purity and mastery.
