Pavillon de Léoville Poyferré 2015 – Saint-Julien

The nose is racy, a bit powerful and offers a slight straightness. It reveals notes of blackberry, ripe wild berries and slight notes of ripe / fresh strawberries combined with a discreet note of violet as well as slight hints of chocolate, caramelized oak and a subtle / imperceptible hint of Sichuan pepper (in the background). The palate is fruity, well-balanced and offers a nice mineral frame, a slight freshness, a slight fat, a good structure, a small straightness as well as freshness. On the palate this wine expresses notes of blackberry, raspberry and slight notes of ripe / juicy strawberry associated with slight touches of small berries, chocolate, toasted oak, caramelized oak (in the background) as well as a very discreet hint of flowers, vanilla and slight touches of cocoa on the finish. Tannins are fine and well-built. Good persistence.
