Le Défi de Fontenil 2020 – Vin de France

Le Défi de Fontenil 2020 – Vin de France

(100% Merlot) The nose is fruity, elegant and offers depth, a certain concentration, freshness as well as a beautiful maturity of the fruit (a bit excessive, but balanced). It reveals notes of fairly ripe blackcurrant and slight hints of violet associated with touches of bright blue berries, graphite as well as hints of cornflower, crushed wild strawberry, blond tobacco, racy minerality and a subtle hint of toasted almond. Nice complexity, especially in the spices. The mouth is juicy, fresh, radiant and offers a very nice substance, gourmandise, brightness, depth, a nice definition, a nice finesse in its grain, subtlety in its fruit, roundness, charm, smoothness and a tangy frame. Nice material and power. An aerial character in its richness. On the palate, this wine expresses notes of graphite, bright blackcurrant and slight notes of cornflower associated with touches of bright blue berries, cardamom, chocolate and hints of vanilla. A good job on the good bitters. The tannins are elegant, powerful, racy and offer suppleness.
