La Réserve de Pierrail – Coteaux de la Fonchotte 2014  – Bordeaux Supérieur

(100% Merlot, ageing 24 months in oak barrels, 6000 bottles) The nose is fine, fruity, aromatic, elegant, finely gourmand and offers a fine concentration. It reveals notes of fresh blackberry, ripe / fresh cassis and fine notes of crushed Gariguette strawberry combined with hints of blueberry, discreet touches of licorice, cornflowers and a touch of caramelized oak, spices, a discreet hint of Sichuan pepper and an imperceptible hint of nutmeg (in the background). The palate is fruity, nicely balanced, silky, suave and offers gourmandise as well as a very nice minerality and a nice fat. In the mouth this wine expresses notes of blackberry and ripe / fresh blueberry associated with slight notes of raspberry, licorice, chocolate, toasted oak as well as a discreet / slight hint of vanilla (in the background). Tannins are fine and well built. Good length and persistence. A good and gourmand wine.
