Domaine Stéphane de Sousa – Les Vaumuriens 2020 – Pommard

The nose is complex and offers a fine racy intensity. The wine beneficiates from being decanted. It reveals notes of crushed blackcurrant, morello cherry, and more slightly – hints of bright red fruit associated with touches of violet, and tangy blueberry as well as slight hints of lilac and pepper. A nice “sense of the place” (local biotop). The mouth is well-built, and finely tight, and offers juiciness, freshness, brightness, a nice definition, a good guideline, tension, harmony, gourmandize, silkiness as well as energy. On the palate, this wine expresses notes of juicy/pulpy redcurrant, bright cherry, and more slightly notes of juicy/bright blueberry associated with touches of plum, iris, racy minerality as well as a discreet almost iodized hint and vanilla. Good length. Fine hints of dark chocolate on the finish. The tannins are supple.
