Domaine Roux, Cuvée Mediolanium 2019 – Châteaumeillant

The wine has a pale ruby color with light garnet reflections. The nose is fragrant, finely spicy, with subtle tertiary notes and fruit freshness. It expresses notes of red cherry, morello cherry, wild strawberry, raspberry, red cherry jam, red currant jelly, associated with fine touches of wet leaves, undergrowth (with a very discreet note mushrooms in the background), dried thyme, dried cornflower, rose and dried nasturtium. The spicy side is expressed in notes of licorice, white pepper and cloves. There is also a herbaceous touch of wild mint. On the palate, the wine offers bright flavors, fullness without heaviness, controlled power and fine, well-structured tannins. We find the flavors of ripe wild strawberries, red cherry compote, fresh morello cherry, black plum (with a slight prune side), blackberry, as well as spicy notes (licorice, cloves, a touch of vanilla). ), wild mint and chocolate. Tertiary notes (undergrowth, wet leaves) are also present and add to the complexity of the wine. The finish is juicy, concentrated and persistent, refreshed by a beautiful acidity. A wine with complexity, balance and aging potential.
