Domaine de Noiré, Caractère 2018 – Chinon

The wine has a ruby color of medium intensity, with very light garnet reflections. The nose is refined and delicate, even a little reserved (but it is better expressed after aeration). It expresses the aromas of dried blackcurrant, crushed blueberry, morello cherry, fresh strawberry and raspberry coulis, combined with touches of crushed mint leaf, tobacco, a fine spiciness of liquorice and white pepper, as well as as well as delicate tertiary notes of undergrowth and mushrooms. We also find an elegant floral bouquet in the background (violet, lilac). The palate offers delicacy, gourmandise and complexity, as well as fleshy fruit. It expresses notes of crushed blackcurrant, crushed strawberry, ripe raspberry, wild blackberry and crushed morello cherry, combined with fine spicy (licorice, nutmeg, white pepper), floral (violet, lilac, dried wild flowers) and herbaceous (tobacco, dried mint), as well as delicate tertiary touches of undergrowth, leather in the background and mushrooms. The tannins are structured and firm, but very silky and enveloped. The acidity is lively, but supple. Beautiful length in the mouth which adds notes of black pepper and a mineral touch (dry stone) to the bouquet, as well as a hint of cocoa.
