Clos du Val – Estate Merlot 2015 – Stag Leap District, Napa Valley

The nose is fruity, well-balanced and offers elegance as well as a slight power. It reveals notes of fleshy blackberries, crushed strawberries and small notes of berries associated with slight touches of chocolate, caramelization as well as a very discreet touch of hazelnut. The palate is fruity, well-balanced, racy and offers a good definition, a slight acid frame, a racy minerality, a slight tension / straightness, a small freshness, gourmandise as well as a beautiful fineness of the grain. On the palate this wine expresses notes of fleshy blackberry, crushed strawberry and small notes of wild berries associated with small touches of chocolate, caramelization as well as a very discreet touch of toasted hazelnut. Tannins are fine and slightly chewy. Good length and good persistence.
