Château Ollieux Romanis, Cuvée Or – 2019, Corbières Boutenac

The wine has a deep ruby color. The nose is expressive, with pronounced fruity and herbaceous aromas. There is a nice balance of notes of fresh, dried, and jammed red and black fruits (fresh red cherry and morello cherry, dried blackcurrant, fresh red plum, blueberry, blackcurrant cream). My bouquet also expresses beautiful notes of various aromatic herbs (basil, fresh thyme, wild mint, peppermint), minty touches of green anise, liquorice and eucalyptus with very slight toasted and vanilla notes. On the palate, the wine has concentration, body, and roundness< It is enveloping and warming, balanced by high acidity. The finish is long, at first very juicy and fruity, then it develops on notes of dried Mediterranean herbs (thyme, rosemary, bay leaf) and dried flowers, a hint of minerality, and spices (black pepper, liquorice) with a subtle hint of plum and cherry jam sweetness. A nice balance between the power of the tannic structure, a bouquet, ripe fruit, and refreshing notes of spices and herbs. Great aging potential.
