Château Mangot 2016  – Saint-Emilion Grand Cru

The nose is fine, gourmand and offers a beautiful maturity, a slight intensity, elegance as well as a slight freshness and a slight richness. It reveals notes of fresh/ripe boysenberry, fresh/ripe cassis and slight notes of blueberry, fresh/ripe strawberry associated with discreet hints of toasted oak as well as a subtle hint of licorice, flowers, chalk and a very discreet hint of pepper (on the background). The palate is fruity, juicy, well-balanced and offers a beautiful balance, a beautiful roundness, a beautiful fat, suavity, tension, a nice minerality as well as a beautiful expression of the fruit (pur fruit). In the mouth this wine expresses notes of fresh/ripe cassis, fresh/ripe blackberry and slight notes of blueberry, fresh/ripe raspberry associated with a discreet hint of toasted oak, licorice, a slight touch of flowers, slight touches of caramelization as well as a very discreet hint of bourbon vanilla and chocolate (on the finish and persistence). Tannins are fine and slightly chewy. Good length. A gourmand wine! (2019/2020+)
