Château l’Ecrin de Couleys 2017 – Médoc

The nose is fruity, gourmand and offers a fine concentration as well as a small freshness. It reveals notes of cassis and violet associated with small notes of gravels (Graves)/racy minerality, ripe/fresh wild small red fruits, fresh/ripe cherry as well as fine touches of dark chocolate, zan and small touches of gray pepper. The palate is fruity, juicy, well-balanced and offers dynamism, a fine acid frame, fat, a good volume as well as a beautiful freshness. On the palate this wine expresses notes of juicy cherry, crunchy/juicy redcurrant and more slightly wild strawberry, cassis associated with fine touches of toasted oak, zan/liquorice as well as discreet hints of spices and an imperceptible hint of ripe bell pepper (in the background). Tannins are slightly firm and a bit tight. Good length. There is a subtle hint of caramelization on the persistence.
