Château d’Angélus 2020, Saint-Emilion Grand Cru, Premier Grand Cru Classé

Château d’Angélus 2020, Saint-Emilion Grand Cru, Premier Grand Cru Classé

On the nose,  nicely structured, refined, elegant and offers a texture with beautiful finesse, purity, balanced intensity and concentration, a wide aromatic palette. There are notes of ripe blackcurrant, strawberry and more subtle notes of blueberry associated with wafts of black tea, fleshy cherry, peony as well as slight hints of pepper, spices, citrus zest, violet and an imperceptible hint of black tea.   On the palate,  beautifully delicate, with precision / subtlety and offers finesse, tension, gourmandize (in balance), a certain discretion / restraint in its power, a nice minerality, an airy character yet balanced.  The wine expresses notes of fresh / juicy raspberry, pulpy / juicy blackberry and lighter notes of fresh / bright blackcurrant associated with touches of black plum, violet, bergamot as well as subtle hints of star anise, an imperceptible saltiness. A nice work on the bitters, smoothness, flavor, a nice powdery texture (appetizing) on the finish / persistence. The tannins are precise, delicate, well structured and polished. A very beautiful aromatic and lively persistence. A wine full of finesse and subtlety.
