Balthus 2019 – Bordeaux Supérieur

Balthus 2019 – Bordeaux Supérieur

The nose is elegant and offers concentration with elegance, depth, complexity and a certain power but with delicacy. There are notes of Morello cherry, blackberry and more slightly violet combined with hints of ripe wild red berries, Sichuan pepper, fine camphor, black tea and a discreet hint of spice and star anise. The palate is fruity and offers freshness, minerality, good definition, a certain gourmandise, a nice tannic structure, tension, richness and balance, controlled power, roundness, energy and an acidic structure. On the palate, this wine expresses notes of morello cherry, fairly ripe blackcurrant and, more slightly, chocolate, combined with hints of star anise, blue berries, violet and lily, as well as fine hints of Bourbon vanilla, sweet spices, toasted hazelnut and a fine hint of roasting. The tannins are fine, racy and elegant. They need time to be soften. Very good persistence (16 caudalies).
