Avondale – Samsara 2009 – Syrah – Paarl

The nose is fruity, fine, racy and relatively elegant. It reveals notes of cassis and red fruit (cherry …) associated with slight notes of blackberry jam, wild strawberry, liquorice, undergrowth as well as fine hints of flowers and a discreet touch of spices (white pepper …). The palate is well-balanced, racy, elegant, harmonious, relatively fat and offers precision, juiciness, a good structure, an acid frame as well as a beautiful matter and definition. On the palate this wine expresses notes of blackberry, strawberry jam and plum associated with touches of crushed redcurrant, slight notes of licorice as well as a hint of cherry, chocolate and a very discreet hint of coffee. Tannins are fine and well done. Good length.
