Vieira de Sousa – Vintage 2009 – Porto

The nose is a bit restraint and offers a beautiful elegance, richness as well as power. It reveals fine notes of blackberry, ripe strawberry and fig combined with subtle touches of orange, cassis jam as well as a touch of chocolate, almond and a very subtle / imperceptible touch of grove (in the background). The palate is well-balanced and offers a beautiful definition, a beautiful freshness, racy minerality, a beautiful guideline and an acid frame. On the palate this Porto expresses notes of fleshy blackberry, crushed cassis, Quetsche plum and a subtle touch of strawberry associated with hints of garrigue as well as subtle hints of chocolate and almond / hazelnut. Tannins are fine and well-integrated. Good length.
