Staglin Family Vineyard Estate – Estate Chardonnay 2016 – Rutherford, Napa Valley

The nose is fruity, elegant and offers a slight gourmandise, a slight freshness as well as a very slight concentration. It reveals notes of quince, kumquat and touches of zest, fresh citrus and discreet hints of peach associated with slight touches of butter and racy minerality. The palate is fruity, well-balanced, elegant, very slightly tight and offers a good definition, a slight acid frame, a slight juiciness, a small unctuosity, precision, richness, as well as a good structure and a beautiful fineness of the grain. On the palate this wine expresses notes of crushed apple, crushed peach, kumquat and small notes of quince associated with fine touches of butter as well as subtle hints of small yellow fruits / pineapple, a very discreet touch of juicy / fleshy physalis, very discreet salinity hints (in the background) and discreet / imperceptible hints of vanilla. Good length. There is an imperceptible touch of hazelnut on the aftertaste.
