Staglin Family Vineyard – Estate Cabernet Sauvignon 2013 – Rutherford – Napa Valley

The nose is fruity, gourmand, elegant and complex. The wine needs to be decanted. It reveals notes of boysenberry, crushed wild cassis and slight hints of wild berries combined with slight touches of blueberry, a discreet hint of fleshy strawberry as well as subtle hints of tobacco, spices and a very discreet hint of caramel. The palate is fruity, well-balanced and offers a beautiful roundness, a beautiful definition, dynamism, freshness as well as a beautiful finesse. On the palate this wine expresses notes of fleshy / juicy blackberry and touches of plum, fleshy cassis associated with slight touches of black cherry, hints of raspberry as well as a very discreet hint of oak. Tannins are fine, well-built and slightly firm. Good length. There are a very discreet hint of dark chocolate, a subtle hint of violet and cardamom on the persistence. Beautiful potential!
