Staglin Family Vineyard – Cabernet Sauvignon 2012 – 30th anniversary Selection – Rutherford, Napa Valley

The nose is aromatic, intense, fine, beautifully built, nicely powerful and offers finesse and concentration. It reveals notes of blueberry, blackberry, flowers (cornflower, violet) and slight notes of blueberry jam associated with touches of zan, sweet spices, camphor and chocolate. The palate is fruity, well-balanced, elegant, precise and offers a nice freshness, a nice volume, suavity, a nice structure, a fresh fruit as well as a beautiful and silky matter. On the palate this wine expresses notes of blackberry jam, blueberry, juicy cassis and touches of juicy Quetsche plum associated with slight notes of raspberry, violet, touches of dark chocolate as well as a hint black tea, licorice, a discreet hint of cherry and (very) slight notes of caramelized oak in the background (discreet). Tannins are elegant. Amazing persistance with notes of dark chocolate, coffee, grilled oak as well as discreet roasted notes. An amazing wine! Beautiful juiciness and harmony! Good job!
