Spring Mountain Vineyard – Cabernet Sauvignon 2012 – Napa Valley

The nose is aromatic, a bit tight, slightly powerful and offers richness as well as a slight generosity. It reveals notes of crushed blackberry, crushed cassis and slight notes of ripe redcurrant combined with discreet touches of coffee, wood, small hints of spices as well as a subtle hint of Sichuan pepper, undergrowth and sweet spices. The palate is fruity, well-balanced, tight and offers richness, a certain generosity, a small acid frame (in the background), a good density, minerality, a slight freshness, a good volume as well as a good roundness. On the palate this wine expresses notes of crushed blackberry / blackberry cream, fleshy / juicy cassis and small notes of fleshy raspberry combined with slight notes of cherry, touches of plum, a subtle touch of soft caramel (in background) as well as a discreet hint of violet, sweet spices, toasted hint and vanilla. Tannins are fine, slightly dry and still young. Good length. There are subtle hints of liquorice and coffee on the finish. (2020).
