Sandeman – 2000 Vintage Porto

The nose is aromatic and offers a slight freshness. It reveals notes of cassis, undergrowth and blackberry associated with a touch of truffle, tea, Sichuan pepper, spices as well as a hint of dark chocolate and cedar. The palate is fruity, fresh, mineral, well-balanced, beautifully built, straight, elegant, a bit aerial and expresses a slight minerality, a good freshness, power as well as a slight acid frame. On the palate this Porto expresses notes of cassis, black cherry and small notes of plum, dried strawberry associated with slight touches of wood, undergrowth / truffle as well as a very discreet hint of prune, flowers and cocoa. Tannins are fine and slightly chewy. Outstanding persistence!
