Rosemont of Virginia Merlot 2022 – Virginia

The wine has a bright pale ruby color. The nose is juicy, fruity and offers a certain concentration. It expresses notes of morello cherry, bigarreau cherry, wild blackberry, black plum, crushed raspberry and red plum, as well as dark chocolate, dry Earl Grey tea, dried blueberry, wild rose and a delicate toasted and spicy hint (liquorice, white pepper, a hint of vanilla in the background, toasted hazelnut). The palate is straight, slender, with a good coffee and toasted bitterness at the opening. Then, it expresses flavors of dried red cherry, morello cherry, raspberry, cranberry with a lively acidity and a good bitterness. There are also flavors of licorice, black pepper, toasted hazelnut, dark chocolate and dried blueberry. The tannins are powdery, chalky, with a fine and polished grain. The finish is quite persistent, with a mouthwatering acidity and the right bitterness of coffee and toast. A straight, fresh, and precise wine.
