Roger Champault – Les Pierris 2015 – Sancerre

Roger Champault – Les Pierris 2015 – Sancerre

The nose is fruity, racy, slightly powerful and offers a fine concentration. It reveals notes of red berries, cherry and small notes of flowers/boxwood associated with touches of spices, racy minerality, cardamom as well as a subtle hint of tea and a very discreet hint of Sichuan pepper in the background (after aeration). The wine needs to be decanted (carafe). The palate is fruity, fresh, mineral, juicy, well-balanced and offers a beautiful suavity, a beautiful juiciness, tension, a nice volume, freshness, gourmandise as well as a beautiful roundness. In the mouth this wine expresses notes of fleshy/crushed redcurrant, raspberry and small notes of fleshy wild strawberry associated with touches of blackberry, licorice as well as a subtle hint of racy minerality, toasted oak, tobacco and cardamom. Tannins are well-built and very slightly firm. Good length and persistence.
