Ridge Vineyards, Lytton Spring 2016 California – Dry Creek Valley

As deep as it can get, the lytton spring is the very definition of maturity of fruits. The complexity is all based on different fruit character from red to dark black, from fresh to jammy. It is loyal and truthful to the varietal style, but it’s also pushing its limits. On the palate, you can feel a mix of different style. The wine is dry but you feel a slight impression of sweetness from the concentration and the medium acidity. It’s mostly light, with a candied flavor, but also an uplifting minerality and cherry flavor at the very end. This gives some decent length and might be from the little percentage of Carignan.
