Quinta da Gaivosa – LBV 2012 – Porto

Quinta da Gaivosa – LBV 2012 – Porto

(bottled in 2016) The nose is aromatic, slightly intense, fine and quite elegant. It reveals notes of black cherry, violet and more slightly of blackberry associated with a hint of redcurrant jam as well as discreet hints of toasted oak, mocha as well as a hint of licorice and an imperceptible hint of olive tree. The palate is fruity, fresh, well-balanced, well-built, nicely defined/precise, elegant and offers a slight mineral frame, a beautiful finesse as well as suavity. In the mouth this Porto expresses notes of blueberry, cassis and slight notes of griotte associated with hints of fresh raspberry, a discreet hint of redcurrant as well as slight woody touches, chocolate, a hint of licorice and cardamom. Good length. Good aromatic persistence with slight notes of dark chocolate, caramelization, coffee and an imperceptible hint of coffee. Promising! (2025+)
