Provenance Vineyards – Malbec 2014 – Calistoga, Napa Valley 

The nose is fruity and offers power, concentration as well as a small intensity. It reveals notes of black cherry, ripe / juicy black berries and fine hints of wild strawberry, crushed redcurrants combined with hints of licorice, tobacco as well as very discreet hints of cassis buds and spices. The palate is fruity, well-balanced, slightly tight and offers a good definition, a slight suavity, a slight density, a very slight mineral frame, roundness, a small fat as well as a very slight freshness. On the palate this wine expresses notes of black cherry, cassis, small notes of blackberry and small touches of crushed black berries, redcurrants associated with small hints of ripe / crushed red fruits, liquorice, chocolate, tobacco as well as a very discreet hint of cardamom and almond. Tannins are fine and a bit tight. Good length. There are very slight hints of pepper and a very discreet hint of cocoa on the finish.
