Poças 2020 – Vintage Port

The wine has a deep ruby color, with purple reflections. The nose is sqvoury, gourmand and offers concentration, depth and accuracy. It expresses notes of fresh crushed blackcurrant, blackcurrant jam, cherry morello cherry, red cherry jam, wild black plum, wild blackberry and wild strawberry, combined with notes of dark chocolate with mint and bitter cocoa,sweet and refreshing at the same time. We also find a fine hint of torrefaction (coffee, toasted almond), a herbaceous touch of blackcurrant leaf and a savoriness of sweet spices (licorice, ground cumin, cloves, a hint of star anise), as well as floral notes. violet and lilac in the background. The palate is concentrated, juicy and tannic (but the tannins are velvety and melted). It expresses notes of blackcurrant jam, morello cherry jam, blackcurrant, blackberry, crushed wild strawberry, morello cherry in chocolate, as well as chocolate with mint, bitter cocoa, sweet coffee, caramelized hazelnut. and dried wild flowers and a touch of violet in the background. We also find savoury notes of sweet spices (licorice, vanilla, cumin and a hint of cinnamon) and the tannic touch of wild plum. At the end of the palate, we feel a warm touch of alcohol, associated with a supple and mouthwatering acidity. Richness and gourmandise.
