Poças 2018 Late Bottled Vintage

The wine has a deep ruby color. On the nose, it is reserved and benefits from aeration. It then offers concentration, precision and a tanginess of black fruits, a fine spiciness and notes of torrefaction. We find in particular the aromas of crushed wild blackberry, very ripe juicy morello cherry, wild plum, black plum jam, wild strawberry jam, roasted red cherry, blackcurrant jam, as well as notes of coffee, dried mint, dark chocolate, prunes in chocolate (in the background), a svoury spiciness (grated nutmeg, cloves), combined with an elegant floral bouquet (rosehip, peony). The mouth is frank, enveloping, but straight and precise. It expresses the rich and fleshy fruity flavors of kirsched cherry, prunes in Armagnac, wild strawberry jam, morello cherry jam, roasted cherry, blackberry liqueur, crème de cassis, as well as dark chocolate with mint, chocolate prunes, coffee (which adds a pleasant bitterness), vanilla (in the background), cloves, as well as a tannic touch of wild plum. The finish is rich and expresses the sweetness and warming alcohol, balanced by a salivating acidity, a good bitterness and the velvety texture of powerful and well-built tannins. A full-bodied and rich wine, with depth of flavors, which needs time to express itself.
