Pierre Prieur & Fils, Domaine de Saint – Pierre, Cuvée Maréchal Prieur 2016 – Sancerre

The wine has a ruby color of medium intensity. The nose offers concentration of delicacy, a fresh fruity side and fine spicy notes. It expresses the aromas of roasted red cherry, fresh morello cherry, crushed wild strawberry, raspberry coulis, a touch of blackcurrant and wild plum in the background, as well as notes of white pepper, ground cumin, seeds of coriander, licorice (even star anise), wild mint, as well as flowers (violet, lily, lilac). There are also fine tertiary notes of undergrowth and truffles. The palate is expressive and juicy, with a firm, slightly grippy tannic structure. It expresses notes of fresh morello cherry, bigarreau cherry, wild strawberry, crushed raspberry, fresh blueberry, a touch of blackberry, as well as notes of sweet spices (a hint of cinnamon, licorice, cloves), dried mint and flowers (fresh rose, violet, lily). The tertiary notes (truffle, undergrowth) are very delicate. A long finish combines the roundness and generosity of the fruit and the tannic power with a beautiful salivating acidity. A fleshy, powerful, but refined wine.
