Pascal Bouchard, Les Vieilles Vignes 2018 – Irancy

Pascal Bouchard, Les Vieilles Vignes 2018 – Irancy

The wine has a ruby color of medium intensity, with garnet reflections on the edge. The nose is warm, fruity and offers depth and concentration. It expresses notes of ripe morello cherry, tart red cherry jam, crushed wild strawberry, raspberry, blackberry and black plum, with a very slight hint of prunes in the background. We also find aromas of smoke, spices (nutmeg, white pepper), a beautiful fragrant floral bouquet (cornflower, dried wild flowers, dried rose), as well as a touch of undergrowth, tobacco and a fine touch of truffles in the background. On the palate, the wine is straight, fruity and offers lightness. It combines the flavors of fresh and dried red fruits (dried raspberry, fresh wild strawberry, tangy red cherry, a hint of blackcurrant), sweet spices (black pepper, nutmeg, clove) as well as tertiary notes dried wild flowers, wilted rose, undergrowth, tobacco and mushrooms which reflect the truffle note on the nose. The tannins are melted, but still a little gripping. The finish is quite persistent and offers notes of flowers and dried herbs, as well as a salivating acidity.
