Opus One 2006 – Napa Valley

Opus One 2006 – Napa Valley

(77% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc, 3% Petit Verdot and 3% Malbec) The nose is fine, elegant and powerful. It reveals notes of black fruit (blackberry, cassis …) associated with a few notes of raspberry, dried flowers, undergrowth, notes of minerality as well as slight notes of truffle, cocoa, notes of espresso, woody notes and a fine earthy note (in the background). The palate is fruity, elegant, balanced, racy, fat and offers a fine minerality and an acid frame. In the mouth this wine expresses notes of blueberry, cassis and blackberry combined with touches of cherry, slight notes of mocha, cocoa, oak and a touch of roasted coffee. Tannins are fine and elegant. Good length and nice persistence. There are slight note of minerality on the persistence. A beautiful and harmonious wine!
