Matthias et Emile Roblin, Grande Côte de la Vallée 2019 – Sancerre

Matthias et Emile Roblin, Grande Côte de la Vallée 2019 – Sancerre

The wine has a pale ruby color. The nose is concentrated, refined and complex. The first nose combines floral (violet, dried rose, a touch of iris) and herbaceous (dried thyme, bay leaf) notes, which are complemented in the second nose by juicy and slightly sweet notes of ripe morello cherry, red cherry, wild strawberry, red currant jelly and crushed blueberry, as well as spicy touches of licorice, white pepper, nutmeg, smoke and roasted cherry. The palate is full and juicy, but refined, subtle and silky. It expresses the flavors of ripe red cherry, morello cherry, wild strawberry, raspberry coulis, redcurrant jelly, crushed blueberry as well as fresh rose, iris, licorice, clove and touches sweetened with cocoa, or even cherry in chocolate. There is also a nice freshness, brought by a slight bitterness and mentholated notes on the finish. The tannins are very fine, velvety and supple, but at the same time structured. The finish is persistent and offers freshness and a crunchy and pleasant acidity. A gourmand and balanced wine.
