Maison Chanzy – Les Bois Cassien 2018 – Mercurey

The nose is aromatic and offers a small power as well as a fine intensity. It reveals notes of cassis, black cherry, small notes of small wild berries associated with touches of violet plum, violet, pepper as well as very fine hints of mud and spices. The palate is fruity, racy, well-balanced and offers an acidulous frame, juiciness, a good definition, a certain precision as well as a small minerality and a small franc side. On the palate this wine expresses notes of juicy blackberry, juicy/ripe cassis, small notes of fleshy/juicy violet plum associated with small touches of juicy wild red berries, crunchy cherry as well as hints of spices, nutmeg, fresh leather, a discreet hint of pepper and an imperceptible hint of hazelnut (in the background). Good length. Tannins are well-built. A discreet hint of cocoa in the finish/persistence.
