Lokoya – Cabernet Sauvignon 2009 – Mount Veeder – Napa Valley

The nose is elegant, delicate and offers fine power, delicacy, strength, lovely complexity, depth, fine creaminess, tension and a lovely multi-layered quality. There are notes of boysenberry and juicy/ripe wild blackcurrant combined with touches of blue berry, strawberry and more lightly zan combined with delicate touches of racy/terroir minerality, subtle/delicate hints of blond tobacco, sense of place (fresh local biotop), and a discreet almost sappy/fresh oak, cardamom and forest floor. The palate is nicely fresh, mineral, elegant, nicely racy and reveals delicacy, gourmandize, nice definition, precision, tension, nice freshness, controlled power, depth, a fine almost infusion point as well as concentration in delicacy and finesse. On the palate, this wine expresses notes of pulpy boysenberry, pulpy raspberry and, more slightly, chocolate, combined with touches of fleshy blue berries, hints of the sense of place, forest floor and tobacco, as well as a discreet hint of almond, toasted hazelnut and a subtle, almost saline touch (in the background). The tannins are elegant and racy. Good length. A subtle hint of underbrush. Congratulations!
