The nose is fruity, fresh, elegant and reveals a lovely racy minerality and a subtle hint of graphite. There are notes of pulpy blackberry, plum and, to a lesser extent, ripe wild strawberry, combined with fine hints of crushed currants, roasted fruit, a subtle hint of cherry blossom and a very discreet hint of star anise and pepper. The palate is fruity, elegant and offers juiciness, a certain richness, gourmandize and a certain tension. On the palate this wine expresses notes of fleshy/crushed blackberry, strawberry and more lightly violet combined with touches of bright red berries as well as a hint of star anise, peony/lys and a subtle hint of almost chocolate. A fine salinity in the background. The finish is very discreetly tight. A lovely, “quaffable” wine. Good length. The tannins are elegant and racy.
