LES VERDOTS (blanc) 2022 – Bergerac

(barrel sample) the nose is fragrant, complex and harmonious. The woody notes are pronounced, but balanced by the juicy and concentrated fruity side. The wine expresses aromas of vanilla pod, toast, toasted hazelnut, a very slight note of cinnamon, as well as lots of flowers and fruit. We find notes of fresh lemon, lemon zest, candied lemon, juicy white fruits (white nectarine, apricot, peach) as well as touches of acacia, lime blossom, honeysuckle and honey. On the palate, the wine expresses roundness and richness. It offers an oily texture and concentrated flavors, which combine woody notes (toasted, vanilla, toasted hazelnut, more slightly, coconut) and fruity (yellow peach, nectarine, apricot, a touch of melon, as well as the freshness of candied lemon zest), complemented by a bitter touch of chestnut honey and an elegant floral bouquet (honeysuckle, linden, acacia). The acidity has a medium level and the finish is quite persistent, with a pleasant bitterness. We also feel a slight tannic side (wood tannins). A rich, fleshy and generous wine.
