Hewitt Vineyard – Cabernet Sauvignon 2014, Estate Grown – Rutherford, Napa Valley

The nose is elegant, fine and offers power / concentration (but well controlled) as well as a small juiciness / crunchiness. It reveals ripe red currants, crispy strawberry and small notes of juicy blackberries combined with slight hints of violet as well as subtle touches of local vegetation, blueberry and spices. The palate is fruity, juicy, well-balanced, harmonious and offers juiciness, a racy minerality, finesse, good definition, suavity, a small freshness as well as complexity. On the palate this wine expresses notes of redcurrant, fleshy blackberry, small hints of cassis and small touches of violet / local vegetation associated with slight hints of wild strawberry, plum, with subtle hints of almond, oak, caramelization as well as discreet hints of sweet spices, dark chocolate and an imperceptible touch of Bourbon vanilla. Tannins are a bit firm. Good length and persistence. Presence of chocolate truffle tips and coffee on persistence. (2022+)
