Haut-Bailly II 2021 – Pessac-Léognan

Haut-Bailly II 2021 – Pessac-Léognan

The nose is aromatic and reveals elegance, delicacy, a certain silkiness as well as a nice spiciness of Madagascar pepper. There are notes of violet, pulpy/flavoured blackcurrant and more slightly ripe red berries combined with touches of pulpy violet plum, hints of Madagascar pepper, discreet hints of zan, nutmeg, a subtle hint of lilac, fresh blond tobacco as well as fine hints of almost blueberry and tonka bean. The palate is nicely managed, all in finesse/mastery and reveals gourmandize, a nice definition, an acidic backbone, precision, delicacy, suavity, roundness as well as a discreet hint of infusion. On the palate this wine expresses notes of pulpy/sparkling cherry, blueberry and slightly brighter blackcurrant combined with hints of ripe/pulpy wild red berries, hints of Madagascar pepper, tonka bean, lily/lilac, discreet hints of crushed red berries and a delicate hint of anise and vanilla. A fine mellowness on the finish/persistence. Good length. The tannins are smooth and elegant.
