Franck Despagne – L’Hôte Antique, Montagne Saint-Emilion

Franck Despagne – L’Hôte Antique, Montagne Saint-Emilion

On the nose, fresh, mineral and offers a little pepper. It reveals notes of fresh blackberry, fresh berries and, more lightly, pure minerality associated with touches of pepper, fresh cherry as well as fine hints of fresh violet, a discreet waft of toasted almond, cardamom and an imperceptible touch of terracotta. On the palate, fruity and offers juiciness, a nice freshness, creaminess and a certain gourmandize. The wine expresses juicy/creamy blackberry, juicy/pulpy raspberry and more lightly fresh/pulpy cherry notes combined with hints of fresh/ripe blackcurrant as well as touches of blueberry, zan, nutmeg, a discreet hint of cardamom (in the background) and an imperceptible one of terracotta. Good length. An imperceptible waft of coffee on the persistence.
