E. Guigal 2018 – Saint-Joseph

The nose is aromatic, racy, stretched and offers a stretchy side. It reveals notes of wild cassis, wild violet plum, small notes of small wild red fruits associated with small touches of olive tree, dry local grove, dry ground of local forest as well as discreet hints of black olive and nutmeg. The palate is fruity, racy, full of tension/a stretchy side, well-built and offers a good definition, juiciness, precision, a small concentration, suavity, a fine richness, a beautiful freshness as well as a certain gourmandize. On the palate this wine expresses notes of pulpy/fleshy black plum, fleshy/juicy cassis, small notes of small juicy/fleshy black berries associated with touches of small wild red fruits, a touch of blueberry as well as hints of olive tree, tobacco, dry ground, local forest (sense of the place), liquorice as well as discreet hints of hazelnut, almond, a subtle hint of bitterness (a good bitterness) and chocolate (in the background). Tannins are precise and fresh. Good length.
