Duckhorn Vineyards – Three Palms Vineyards Merlot 2013 – Napa Valley

The nose is fruity, powerful, elegant, racy, relatively gourmand and offers finesse. It reveals notes of blackberry jam, cassis, sour cherry, violets and cassis candy associated with a fine hint of gray pepper as well as touches of zan and a hint of Ceylon tea. The palate is fruity, well-balanced, relatively powerful, relatively gourmand and offers minerality, freshness, a nice roundness, suavity, fat and concentration. On the palate this wine expresses notes of blackberry, cassis and fine notes of plum associated with discreet hints of purple fig spices as well as slight notes of cardamom and graphite. Tannins are fine and elegant. Good length.
