Duckhorn Vineyards – Merlot 2015 – Carneros, Napa Valley

The nose is fruity and offers power as well as concentration. It reveals notes of crushed cassis, crushed blackberry, liquorice and black berries associated with slight touches of spices as well as a very discreet hint of gray pepper. The palate is fruity and offers juiciness, an acidulous frame, an almost saline minerality as well as a small concentration. On the palate this wine expresses notes of juicy / cooked cassis, very ripe blackberry and small notes of small black berries, small wild red berries associated with slight touches of liquorice, wood, sweet spices as well as a touch of gray pepper. Tannins are fine and a bit firm.
