Domaine Roger Belland – Morgeot-Clos Pitois 2018 – Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru

The nose is elegant, racy, complex, harmonious and offers a certain power (full of control). This wine should be decanted. It reveals notes of fleshy/ripe wild cassis, fleshy black plum, small notes of strawberry associated with touches of fleshy cherry, violet, lily as well as hints of tonka bean, sugared mild tobacco, a discreet hint of saffron, a racy minerality, graphite and an imperceptible hint of cardamom. The palate is fruity, beautifully precise, finely tight, elegant and offers juiciness, freshness, a good definition, complexity, a beautiful fine grain, delicacy as well as an acidulous frame and a beautiful suavity. On the palate this wine expresses notes of pulpy/bright cassis, pulpy blackberry, small notes of violet plum associated with touches of cherry, bright redcurrant as well as fine hints of cornflower, violet, liquorice, chocolate, mild tobacco and a very discreet hint of green cardamom. A subtle hint of almond on the persistence. A very discreet firmness on the finish/persistence. Good length.
