Domaine Paul Janin – Vieilles Vignes des Greneriers 2011 – Moulin-à-Vent

The nose is aromatic, elegant and harmonious. The wine needs to be decanted. It reveals notes of ripe wild fruits and ripe strawberry combined with slight hints of tonka bean, liquorice as well as subtle woody hints and a very discreet touch of spices. The palate is mineral, well-balanced and offers a slight freshness, a slight tension, a slight acid frame, a slight richness (but full of elegance), a slight gourmandise as well as a tension. On the palate this wine expresses notes of very ripe blackberry, very ripe strawberry and touches of fresh berries associated with slight notes of tonka bean, wood, a subtle / discreet hint of caramelization, toasted hint, Zan as well as an imperceptible hint of tobacco. Tannins are fine, well-built and very slightly straight. Chews on the finish / aftertaste. There is an imperceptible hint of gray pepper on the aftertaste.
