Domaine Moissenet-Bonnard, Les Epenots 2019 – Pommard Premier Cru

The wine has a ruby colour of medium intensity. The first nose offers pronounced aromas of smoked meat, which disappear after aeration. It then expresses fresh red and black fruit notes (raspberry, wild strawberry, blueberry, blackberry, red currant) with a hint of dried cranberries and red currant jam in the background. There are also smoky, toasty and spicy notes of white pepper, clove, fresh mint, liquorice, as well as delicate floral touches of lily, peony and blueberry with a very slight hint of cinnamon and vanilla in the background. On the palate, the wine is gourmet, juicy, fruity and offers elegance and lightness (in a good sense). It expresses fresh, slightly acidic red and black fruit flavours (fresh raspberry, gariguette strawberry, red cherry, Morello cherry, red currant, blueberry and a sweet touch of blackberry), with a delicate floral bouquet (fresh rose petals, a subtle touch of peony, lilac and cornflower), spicy (white pepper, liquorice, clove) and slightly herbal (peppermint, fresh thyme). The tannins are silky, with a fine structure. Good length, good acidity and lots of deliciousness. A delicate and seductive wine, but well-structured, with fruit and lightness.
