Domaine La Croix St – Laurent 2020 – Sancerre

The wine has a pale ruby color. The first nose is ripe and warm and expresses notes of juicy red fruits(wild strawberry, fresh and jammed red cherry, crushed red plum, crushed raspberry), associated with aromas of blueberry, blackcurrant, and a touch of mint, crushed, cut rosemary, as well as a refined floral bouquet (fresh rose, peony), notes of fresh tobacco, aromatic herbs (thyme, bay leaf) and sweet spices (licorice, clove). The palate is juicy on the attack, round and enveloping, with a firm, but not drying tannins that appear afterwards. The flavors are juicy, full and fleshy : they offer richness and concentration to the wine. We find in particular notes of crushed wild strawberries, fresh morello cherries, red cherry jam, red currant jelly, raspberry coulis, as well as notes of sweet spices (cloves, ahint of nutmeg), flowers (peony, rose petals, violet), as well as an enveloped herbaceous notes of minty chocolate, rosemary syrup. The finish is warm, with notes of ripe fruit and a touch of dark chocolate, refreshed by a nice acidity. The finish is long, fruity and gourmand. A rather rich wine, but refined and balanced.
